NYC 2011
In 2011, thousands of Nazarene students will come together. They will gather to take part in a movement of God…to change things.
Nazarene Youth Congress 2011 will take place in Louisville, Kentucky July 5-10. The theme of the event is “A World Unbroken”. Students must have completed the eighth grade at the time of NYC to be eligible to attend. USA/Canada NYI continues to plan and finalize details of the event and is releasing those details over a ten week period that began July 1. We will be sharing information with you as it becomes available to us.
Registration opens September 1. The registration process for students begins with students submitting hard copies of the application, medical and reference forms to the district. These forms will be available on our district NYI website in early August. The district then submits information and additional forms to USA/Canada. USA/Canada will then contact students individually via email and provide a link for the student to register. Each applicant must have a distinct email address. The fee for registration that is completed by Dec. 3 is $450. After Dec 3, it is $500.00. After Jan. 8, it is $525.00. No one may register after Feb. 11. Students registering by Dec. 3 will be allowed to pay their registration fee in the following increments: $150.00 at registration, $100 in October, $100 in November and the final $100 by Dec. 3. Students registering after Dec 3 will be required to pay the applicable amount in full at the time of registration.
The $450.00 fee covers only the event registration. We anticipate that the total cost will be approximately $1000.00. As discussed at both Extravaganza and NYI Convention, this estimate is based on the assumption that we work together as a district to provide our own transportation and that it is not necessary to rent transportation. We will not be able to make a final determination regarding budget and total cost until we have information from our churches regarding what transportation will be available to us. If your church can provide a reliable vehicle for group transport during the NYC event, please contact me as soon as possible.
Students will be participating in service projects during NYC. We do not know what our project will be, but we will be asked to bring supplies to donate to the Louisville Neighborhood Place program, which supports children and families. There are approximately 8,000 homeless children in the Louisville area. NYC provides a blessed opportunity for NYI to help those children on a massive scale. We will receive a specific list of needed items in the Fall.
Starfield will lead worship, and General Superintendent David Graves will be our closing speaker.
As more information is released, we will share it with you.
