For all youth 6th grade through 12th grade. There are no “try outs”, just show up and join the study! We meet at the church in room 21 on Sunday evenings 4:00-5:30 and Wednesday evenings 4:30-6:00. We will be studying the Book of John where Jesus is presented in all His power and authority as the Way, the Truth, the Resurrection, and the Life. This is an eyewitness account of the life of the only person in human history who not only beat death fair and square but who also really lived this life the way it is meant to be lived. Pay close attention: it may change your life!

Our current Quiz meet schedule: Sep 18 – @ Bethel, Oct 16 – @ Clarksville First, Nov 20 – @ Columbia Grace, Dec 3-4 in St Louis, Dec 18 – Trevecca Community, Jan 22 – @ Nashville Grace, Feb 26 – District Finals @ Gallatin, Apr 7-9 – Regionals @ TNT.

DISTRICT MISSION DAY
Saturday, September 11, 7 am – 5 pm. We will be joining our Nazarene friends in the Nashville area to help with a one day service project, helping flooded families in the Pennington Bend area and the Music City Mission. All you have to bring is a sack lunch and your willingness to serve!

GIRL TALK
Friday, September 24, 7 pm – Saturday, September 25, 7 am. For girls only, we will talk about life, how to be beautiful on the inside and out- when times get tough, who do you turn to; how to make the right decisions and keeping in line with our sextember message series “how to be pure when everyone else is doing their own thing.” More details on the way. Great time to invite a friend!

SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sundays, 9:45 am (2nd service). Each and every week our students get together in small groups upstairs in the Family Life Center (middle school girls-room 22, middle school guys-room 23, Freshman/Sophomores-room 24, Juniors/Seniors-room 23) and have an interactive Bible study time. Every week a student attends, they earn one dollar ($1) towards summer camp or mission trip, so you get paid to deepen your faith.

If you are dealing with pain (who isn’t?) including: addictions, eating disorders, abuse, pornography, drinking, cutting, etc., then Life Hurts God Heals is for you.

Life Hurts God Heals (LHGH) is specifically for students who have experienced pain or addiction including: drinking, cutting, pornography, eating disorders, troubled family dynamics, etc.

If you are familiar with 12-step programs (i.e., Alcohol Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, etc) then you understand the basic structure for Life Hurts God Heals. However, Life Hurts God Heals is an 8-step group targeted specifically for students in middle school through college age, and is based on the beatitudes from the Bible. This curriculum provides lifelong tools for students dealing with unresolved hurt and pain. It was written by John Baker, Doug Fields and Megan Hutchinson as a result of seeing the unmet pain of students in their youth ministry at Saddleback Church, and we believe God will use it to help our students here at Grace and in our county.

Any middle or high school student is welcome! The dates we meet are Sundays from 5:30-7:30 in room 23 upstairs in the main building: August 15, 22, 29; September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24; November 7, 14.

In 2011, thousands of Nazarene students will come together. They will gather to take part in a movement of God…to change things.
Nazarene Youth Congress 2011 will take place in Louisville, Kentucky July 5-10. The theme of the event is “A World Unbroken”. Students must have completed the eighth grade at the time of NYC to be eligible to attend. USA/Canada NYI continues to plan and finalize details of the event and is releasing those details over a ten week period that began July 1. We will be sharing information with you as it becomes available to us.
Registration opens September 1. The registration process for students begins with students submitting hard copies of the application, medical and reference forms to the district. These forms will be available on our district NYI website in early August. The district then submits information and additional forms to USA/Canada. USA/Canada will then contact students individually via email and provide a link for the student to register. Each applicant must have a distinct email address. The fee for registration that is completed by Dec. 3 is $450. After Dec 3, it is $500.00. After Jan. 8, it is $525.00. No one may register after Feb. 11. Students registering by Dec. 3 will be allowed to pay their registration fee in the following increments: $150.00 at registration, $100 in October, $100 in November and the final $100 by Dec. 3. Students registering after Dec 3 will be required to pay the applicable amount in full at the time of registration.
The $450.00 fee covers only the event registration. We anticipate that the total cost will be approximately $1000.00. As discussed at both Extravaganza and NYI Convention, this estimate is based on the assumption that we work together as a district to provide our own transportation and that it is not necessary to rent transportation. We will not be able to make a final determination regarding budget and total cost until we have information from our churches regarding what transportation will be available to us. If your church can provide a reliable vehicle for group transport during the NYC event, please contact me as soon as possible.
Students will be participating in service projects during NYC. We do not know what our project will be, but we will be asked to bring supplies to donate to the Louisville Neighborhood Place program, which supports children and families. There are approximately 8,000 homeless children in the Louisville area. NYC provides a blessed opportunity for NYI to help those children on a massive scale. We will receive a specific list of needed items in the Fall.
Starfield will lead worship, and General Superintendent David Graves will be our closing speaker.
As more information is released, we will share it with you.
